National Film Board of Canada animators are creating ground-breaking works across a wide array of techniques, styles and subjects at the NFB’s renowned animation studios in Montreal and its centres across Canada. Canada’s public producer, the NFB works with leading auteur animators and is developing new generations of animation creators through a range of mentorship initiatives. As the digital media revolution augments the ways animation is made and experienced, the NFB is exploring new approaches, including 3D stereoscopy, and developing content for new media platforms. The NFB’s first animation unit was established in 1941 by cinema pioneer Norman McLaren. Since 1939, the NFB has created over 13,000 productions and won over 5,000 awards, including 12 Oscars and more than 90 Genies. The NFB’s new website features almost 2,000 productions online, and its iPhone and iPad apps are among the most popular and talked-about downloads. Visit today and start watching.
